Two suspected area boys have died after allegedly stabbing each other during a fight over the sharing of money at Ogunpa, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, October 26.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the fight reportedly occurred at about 12:45 p.m. after the two men allegedly disagreed over how to share the money given to them.
The disagreement, however, escalated into violence, with both men reportedly armed with knives taken forcefully from a trader’s shop.
Thenewsbearer learnt that while one stabbed his colleague in the right wrist, the other plunged his knife into the former’s neck, killing him on the spot.
The injured man was reportedly rushed to Naomi Hospital in Oke Padre but died from excessive blood loss before he could receive effective medical attention.
Although the exact cause of the disagreement had not been established, accounts circulating in the area suggested that the men had quarrelled over an alleged dispute about one of them taking a larger share of the money given to them.
The incident prompted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Iyaganku Division to visit the scene and the hospital where the second victim was taken, from where the bodies were evacuated.
When contacted, the Oyo State Police Command spokesman, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, saying the remains of the deceased had been deposited in a hospital mortuary.
