Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State Command, Abutu Yaro, received his first jab of AstraZeneca Vaccine on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, to formally flag-off the Covid-19 vaccination for police officers and men in the state.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, in a statement on Wednesday, March 24, the Commissioner of Police was given the injection by the police medical team, in collaboration with the medical staff from the ministry of health.
Other officers who took the vaccine jab with the Commissioner of Police included the Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Elkana Ayuba; DC, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Chollom Gyan, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Bello H. Wudil, among others.
Speaking after receiving the vaccine, Yaro urged officers and men of the command to accept it, as medical professionals had explained that it would not have negative effect on human lives.
The state police boss also said that the vaccination would help in guiding against COVID-19 pandemic.
He assured of total support and cooperation of the police, to ensure the success of the exercise.
Yaro stated further that he had directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to give maximum support to the medical teams deployed to their areas.
