In a move to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process, the Supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has arrived in Ekiti State for the governorship election on Saturday, June 20, following his deployment by the Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu.
He is to be assisted by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olarenwaju Ogunlowo.
They are to oversee and coordinate security operations for the election.
The DIG, during an engagement with officers and other security stakeholders, emphasised the critical importance of synergy, collaboration, and mutual support among security agencies involved in the election, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, SP Sunday Abutu, on Friday, June 19.
DIG Fayoade called on personnel to exhibit the highest level of professionalism, discipline, and respect for the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
He equally urged members of the public, political actors, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with security agencies, remain law-abiding, and contribute to a peaceful electoral environment.
The Supervising DIG assured that the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, has emplaced robust security arrangements, including adequate deployment of personnel and logistics, to ensure the safety of voters, electoral officials, and election materials before, during, and after the election.
