The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has alleged that hoodlums linked to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) killed an All Progressives Congress (APC) member in Ibadan, calling on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The organisation also urged elders across Oyo State to call Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, to order over what it described as a growing pattern of political violence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, SSACO identified the deceased as Ridwan, popularly known as Paul Moor, an APC member in Ward 6, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
The organisation alleged that Ridwan was macheted to death on Friday by APM supporters because he had defected from the party to the APC. It said the incident occurred a day before his 35th birthday.
SSACO described the killing as the latest in a series of attacks on opposition members and campaign teams in Oyo State over the past two weeks.
According to the organisation, Senator Alli’s wife, Alhaja Tawakalit Alli, was attacked during a free medical outreach she organised last week. It also alleged that the APC candidate for Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo, was attacked during a campaign, while the campaign train of the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Remi Oseni, was also targeted on the same day.
The organisation further alleged that the campaign team of Accord Party governorship candidate, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, was attacked at Molete, Ibadan, during a campaign.
SSACO condemned the reported incidents, describing them as unacceptable and warning that political disagreements should not deprive citizens of their constitutional rights to freedom of association and expression.
It accused Makinde and Adekanmbi of failing to rein in their supporters, urging both political figures to prevail on their members to avoid violence and allow opposition parties to campaign peacefully.
The statement added that Oyo State belonged to all residents, irrespective of political affiliation, and called on the state’s elders to intervene to prevent further attacks ahead of the 2027 elections.
SSACO also called on the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to investigate the killing and other reported attacks, identify those responsible and ensure that they face the law.
The organisation said Senator Alli would continue with an issue-based campaign and urged other political parties to embrace peaceful electioneering.
