The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected arms courier, Lukman Sanni, and recovered a locally made pistol and two live cartridges at Iyana Isashi.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation.
A search reportedly conducted on Sanni led to the recovery of the firearm, two live cartridges and a suspected charm.
The police said investigations were ongoing to establish how the suspect obtained the firearm and its intended destination. He remains in custody and is assisting investigators.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling illegal firearms possession, arms trafficking, cultism and other crimes.
He urged residents to report suspicious activities to the police, stressing that public cooperation was vital to maintaining security.
