The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has warned Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde against any move to sell or allocate the Cheshire Home land in Eleyele, Ibadan, to private developers.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, the organisation expressed concern over what it described as a growing pattern of converting public assets to private commercial use under the Makinde administration.
SSACO said public properties were held in trust for the people and should not be disposed of without transparency, public consultation and compelling justification.
It noted that strategically located public land remained essential for future schools, hospitals, recreational facilities, social welfare institutions and other public infrastructure, particularly as the state’s population grows.
“Government should be creating and expanding public infrastructure, not diminishing the stock of public assets inherited from previous administrations,” the statement said.
The organisation urged the state government to halt any proposed sale or allocation of the Cheshire Home land and ensure that decisions involving public assets were guided by accountability and the long-term interests of Oyo State residents.
“Oyo State belongs to its people, and its collective inheritance must be protected,” the statement added.
