Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State Police Command, Abutu Yaro has expressed appreciation towards the state governor , Dr Mohammed Bello Matawalle, for the provision of N3 million as financial support towards the medical treatment of ASP Sani Mamman who was shot in the buttocks by bandits on Bindin-Dangulbi road while on special anti-robbery operations in October 2016.
Mamman, attached to Operations Department, state headquarters, Gusau, had been undergoing treatment since the incident occurred.
In a statement by the state police image-maker, SP Mohammed Shehu on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, the Commissioner of Police described the governor’s gesture as uncommon and commendable, saying that it would go a long way in boosting the morale of officers and men in performing their assigned duties, with a high degree of enthusiasm and professionalism.
Assuring Governor Matawalle that officers and men of the command would continue to put in their best to ensure that the state remains peaceful, Yaro said that the sustained commitment would be a way of reciprocating the governor’s humane gesture of support and encouragement to the security operatives in the state.
SP Shehu stated further that the police commissioner also called on the beneficiary to make judicious use of the money, by ensuring that he would treat himself at an accredited hospital.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Dauran, who handed over the money to the beneficiary on behalf of the the governor, in the presence of the PPRO, assured the Police Command that the current administration of the state, under Governor Matawalle, was determined and committed to the welfare of security operatives, for their commitment to finding lasting solution to the security challenges in the state.
