Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered a water-tight security across the length and breadth of the state.
This was done in view of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration marking the end of one month Ramadan fasting, according to a statement by the police spokesman in the State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Wednesday, May 12, 2021
The PPRO said that the command had also deployed all its tactical teams such as, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Anti-Cultism Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) to embark on aggressive patrol of nooks and crannies of the state, in order to ensure that no ugly incident is recorded before, during and after the celebration.
Oyeyemi stated: “All the Area commanders and Divisional Police Officers have also been put on red alert, to nip in the bud any ugly incident that might want to rear its head in their areas.
“The Commissioner of Police has also directed the bomb disposal unit of the command to comb all the prayer grounds and recreation centres across the state.”
While felicitating with Muslims in the state for successful completion of the fasting, Ajogun enjoined them to always be good ambassadors of Islam by maintaining peace all the time.
He also appealed to the general public not to hesitate to alert the police if any strange movement or gathering is noticed in their areas, stressing that security is everyone’s business.
