Others had escaped with gunshot injuries.

Disclosing this in a statement, the state police image-maker, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that when he got a distress call concerning the robbery at about 5:00a.m., the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ikenne Division, CSP Noukauba Onuma mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.
“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes, at the end of which one of the hoodlums was shot dead, while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.
“Recovered from the dead robber are: one cut-to-size locally-made gun; a live cartridge and an expended cartridge,” the PPRO disclosed.
Oyeyemi said that state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun praised police operatives for their display of gallantry.
Ajogun was said to have warned that the police efforts should serve as a warning signal to criminals, who thought that the police would not be up to their duties, to have a rethink, as the command would always aim at protecting the good people of the state.
The police also ordered a manhunt for injured fleeing members of the robbery gang, so that they would be brought to account for their deeds in a court of law after investigation by the police.
