The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone Eleven, Mukan Joseph Gobum, has promised to operate an open-door policy, just as he said that community policing is the ultimate guide for the next guard keeping strategy.
AIG Gobum made the promise on his arrival in Osogbo, Osun State, which is the zonal headquarters, to assume duty.
The zone comprises of Oyo and Osun States.
Making this known in a statement issued on Monday, August 16, 2021, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Ayeni said that Gobum, from Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, was born on June 21, 1962 in Amper, Plateau State.
He graduated from Amadu Bello University, Zaria with B.A. (Hon.) History, after which he enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on March 15, 1988.
He has served in several police strategic commands and formations as Divisional Crime Officer, O/C Patrol and Guard, Area Commander, AC CID, DC Operations and DC Administration, before he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2017.
He was posted as CP Border Patrol and also served as CP Special Fraud Unit, CP Airport Police Command, CP Bayelsa State Command and CP River State Command, from where he was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police and posted to Zone 8 Lokoja, Kogi State.
He has attended several professional courses, among which are Strategic Command Course at Police Staff College Jos, Train the Trainers Course at the same College, and Diplomatic Protection Course at the American International Law
Enforcement Academy, USA.
He is a recipient of several awards and honours and attended peacekeeping mission in Sudan, between 2007 and 2008.
The AIG is also a believer in team work, proper planning and prayers to achieve a set goal.
His hobbies include watching football live matches and reading the Bible.
He is happily married with children.
