The police commissioner made the statement on Sunday, May 8, 2022, in response to a Facebook post with the caption ‘Unknown gunmen Asaba Delta State sends strong message.’
Residents were told to observe order as declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In the statement issued on behalf of the police commissioner, the command’s image-maker, DSP Bright Edafe said that residents were urged by the police boss to go about their lawful businesses as the command would deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who try to cause any form of trouble in the state.
“He (CP Ali) admonishes members of the public, particularly residents of Asaba and the entire Delta North district to remain vigilant, monitor and report any strange and suspicious movements or persons in their neighbourhood to the Command or other law enforcement agencies,” the PPRO stated.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner, in his determination to maintain the existing peace in the state, has placed officers and men of the Command on red alert and urged them to remain watchful and deal decisively with anyone or group of persons attempting to cause any form of mayhem in the state.
He further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical commanders to maintain police visibility across the length and breadth of the state and put in place measures that would make the state uncomfortable and unhabitable for any group of hoodlums.
