The Adamawa State Police Command on Sunday, April 13, arrested a herbalist identified as Murtala Musa, for allegedly killing and removing the left eye of an 11-year-old boy brought to him for treatment in Kodomun Village, Demsa Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest, said that the incident was reported to the police in Demsa on Sunday by the Village Head of Kodomun and the mother of the victim, Fancy Alifas.
The PPRO said that the mother told the police that her son, Yangapwa David, aged 11, was taken to the said herbalist for treatment but died while in his custody.
According to her, arrangements were being made to convey the body home, during which the remains were left in the herbalist’s room.
However, to her shock on her return to the herbalist’s house, she discovered that her son’s left eye had been removed.
This, SP Nguroje stated, led police operatives to the scene where they arrested the suspect.
He said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has assured members of the public that the Command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.
The police spokesman said that the suspect had been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation.
