A 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, was on Thursday , November 6, 2025, apprehended by Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife, Miltha Jeriel, aged 67, by stabbing and hacking her multiple times with a knife and axe.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 4, following a misunderstanding between the couple which started at a beer parlour.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, November 7, said that police operatives from Demsa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly went to the scene when a distress call was received.
“The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead while receiving treatment. Her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” the PPRO stated.
He added that the suspect had been arrested and the knife and axe used in committing the offence recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, who condemned the act, directed State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over case and ensure discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
CP Morris warned against all forms of domestic violence, urging members of the public to seek peaceful resolution of conflicts.
He reassured the state residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served, asserting that no offender would escape lawful punishment.
