A 36-year-old man, Aliyu Yakuba, has been arrested by Adamawa State Police Command for killing one Bassey Isah after defrauding him.
The suspect, a resident of Jalingo Daddawa Village, UBA, in Hong Local Government Area, was apprehended on Thursday, June 13.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 20, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that on the day of the incident, the suspect, who deceived the victim that he would help him print Naira notes, fraudulently obtained three bags of maize from him.
In addition, Yakuba demanded and received from the victim a Toyota Starlet car, a motorcycle, and a Carry Go tricycle, promising to make him rich overnight.
The PPRO said: “The suspect then took Bassey to a forest where he brutally struck him with an iron rod and buried him.”
SP Nguroje stated that the suspect had volunteered confessional statement to the allegations and would be charged to court for culpable homicide at the conclusion of the investigation.
