The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, Johnson Oluwole Adenola; and the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Daniel Iyamah, have warned police officers against extortion and all forms of misconduct towards members of the public, especially along the expressway.
AIG Adenola and CP Iyamah gave the warning during an on-the-spot assessment of police checkpoints along the East–West Road in Bayelsa State, according to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, DSP Musa Mohammed.
During the exercise, the AIG and the Commissioner of Police dismantled illegal road blocks, charging the officers to remain professional while carrying out their lawful duties.
CP Iyamah stated that the exercise would be a routine, to checkmate the conduct of officers on the highways across the state.
