The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 4, Makurdi, Zacharia Fera Achinyan, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, to immediately commence an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak at 13 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Base, Makurdi.
The AIG gave the directive when he paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the burnt PMF facility on Monday, January 5, 2026.
AIG Achinyan was received by the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Emenari Ifeanyi, alongside the Commanding Officer, 13 Police Mobile Force, Makurdi.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the devastating fire occurred on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The fire reportedly spread rapidly, though no casualties were recorded.
According to a statement by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, during the inspection of the affected base, the AIG, who expressed concern over the incident, reassured members of the public that the situation had been brought under control.
He urged them to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, as adequate security measures had been put in place.
