‎Army Announces Major Shake-Up, Appoints New GOCs, Commanders ‎

‎Abuja — The Nigerian Army has announced a major redeployment of senior officers, appointing new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), corps commanders, and commandants in a move aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and enhancing national security efforts.

‎The redeployment, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shiabu, affects several key operational and administrative positions across the Army.
‎
‎According to the Army, the changes are designed to improve efficiency, bolster ongoing operations against insurgency and banditry, and address emerging security challenges across the country.
‎
‎Among the new appointments, Major General A.S.M. Wase was named General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, while Major General C.R. Nnebeife was appointed General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Commander of Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

‎The reshuffle also saw Major General A.A. Adeyinka appointed as Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General A.A. Adekeye as Chief of Personnel Management, and Major General T.B. Ugiagbe as Chief of Standard and Evaluation. Major General A.A. Idris was named Chief of Military Intelligence, while Major General M.O. Erebulu assumed office as Provost Marshal.

‎Other key appointments include Major General E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, and Major General J.E. Osifo as Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

‎Major General S.A. Akesode was also deployed to Ethiopia as Head of the African Union Verification Mission in Tigray.

‎Several training institutions also received new leadership. Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School, while Major General K.O. Osemwegie and Major General A.J. Aliyu were posted to head the Army Signal School and the Nigerian Army Ordnance School, respectively. Major General A.C. Adetoba was named Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.

‎The Army said the appointments reflect its commitment to adapting to evolving security dynamics and maintaining professionalism within the force.

‎The newly appointed officers have been charged with demonstrating commitment to their responsibilities and sustaining ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.
‎
‎Lieutenant General Oluyede urged the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedicated service and effective leadership as they assume their new roles.
