A 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, who was arrested by the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja for impersonating an Army Major, has been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command.
The Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 25, said that the suspect was apprehended by soldiers at the Arena Market, Oshodi, with a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major.
The suspect was immediately handed over to the Lagos State Police Command in a seamless operation, underscoring strong inter-agency collaboration, Thenewsbearer reports.
“The case has since been assigned to Special Squad I to conduct a thorough investigation aimed at tracing the source of the forgery, identifying accomplices, and determining whether the suspect used the fake identity to commit other offences.
“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the case will be charged to court accordingly,” the PPRO said.
The Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, who commended the Nigerian Army for the swift arrest and prompt handover, stressed the importance of synergy among security agencies in tackling crime.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring that close collaboration among security forces would continue to enhance safety in Lagos State.
