Armed bandits on Sunday, February 8, attacked Koro Community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a forest guard, identified as Samuel.
The bandits also set ablaze many motorcycles.
Thenewsbearer gathered that prior to the attack, forest guards in Koro had reportedly got intelligence about a potential attack by armed bandits.
However, the operatives were ambushed by the armed bandits during which the forest guard was fatally shot.
The incident has led to Koro being placed on high alert, with residents advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements to security authorities.
Also, communities sharing boundaries with Koro have been urged to be cautious.
The communities include Egbe, Ogbe, and Oke-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Official statement has yet to be issued by security agencies on the incident.
