The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Daura Branch, Katsina State, Rev. Father Malumfashi Kona, has described Christmas as a season promoting unity, love, and compassion, especially towards those in custodial care.
The CAN chairman spoke during the celebration of Christmas with inmates and staff of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Daura New, to foster brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.
In his remarks, the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Katsina State Command, Umar Baba, represented by CSC Nasir Labo, appreciated CAN and other Christian groups – including the Catholic Church led by Rev. Father Solomon Akko, St. Peter’s Church, and ECWA – for donating food and essentials to inmates.
The Correctional Centre’s spokesman, ASC Najib Idris Kunduru, said in a statement that visit highlighted solidarity and support for inmates’ welfare.
