The Chairman of Iganna Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oyo State, Mr Jacob Adeleke, and his driver, who were abducted six days ago, have regained their freedom.
The two were kidnapped on Okeho- Ado Awaye Road on their way to a meeting with the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Thenewsbearer learnt since the abduction, the police and the men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the zone had been combing the forests in search for the kidnap victims.
A council chairman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, broke the news of their release on Friday night.
When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said: “The chairman has regained his freedom and reunited with his family.”
The abductors were said to have demanded N200 million ransom from the families of the victims.
But it could not be confirmed if a ransom was paid for their release or not.
