Chief Magistrate P. O. Adetoyibo of Family Court 2, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has remanded two accused persons in prison in connection with alleged defilement of a minor and 14-year-old girls.
The names of the accused persons were given as Kayode Akinsile (60) and Dr. Ajelere Ajewumi, (68).
They were arraigned by the Anti-Human trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Disclosing this in a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun said that the state Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, spoke on the arraignment at the command headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.
The first suspect, Akinsile, of Alafara Ona Ara, Ibadan, was first arrested on June 15 for the defilement of a 14-year-old girl and was granted bail, but went ahead to defile another minor and was rearrested on July 7.
The second suspect, Dr Ajewumi, from Oki Olodo, Ibadan, was arrested for illegal adoption and defilement of another 14-year-old girl.
Sources told Thenewsbearer that the community where the accused lived reported his case when they noticed that he confined the girl and continually defiled her.
The Chief Magistrate, after the court charges against the two accused persons were read, remanded them at Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, till September.
In his remarks, Adaralewa said that the NSCDC arraigned the two suspects after medical examination and thorough investigation of the victims.
Admonishing parents and guardians to take good care of their children and wards, he also encouraged the children to be disciplined and be good ambassadors of their various homes and families.
On those still indulging in the defilement of minors or assault of women, the Commandant warned them to desist, as the NSCDC would deal decisively with anybody caught in such act.
