‎Defence minister denies resignation rumours, threatens legal action ‎

Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has dismissed reports claiming that he plans to resign from office, describing the rumours as false and malicious.

‎Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, Musa said he was shocked by the reports and had never discussed resigning from his position.
‎
‎The minister stated that he had no knowledge of the source of the rumours and vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading the claims.
‎
‎“I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don’t even know who the person is that brought that information. But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them,” he said.
‎
‎Musa arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 3 p.m. and left after more than an hour of discussions with the President, amid growing speculation over his continued stay in office.
‎
‎The Federal Government had earlier dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the Defence Minister intended to step down.
‎
‎In a statement signed by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the reports were described as “malicious” and “entirely fabricated.”
‎
‎According to the statement, Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and to implementing the Federal Government’s defence and security agenda.
‎
‎The ministry urged the public to disregard the rumours and rely only on official sources for information concerning the minister and his office.
‎
‎The latest clarification comes as the government continues efforts to address security challenges across the country, with Musa reaffirming his commitment to the task entrusted to him by President Tinubu.
