The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Ari Muhammed Ali, has ordered the arrest of a police Inspector, Ebri Ubi, who reportedly shot dead one Mr. Onyeka Ibe on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at about 9:30am while on stop-and-search duty along Ugbolu-Illah Road, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, made this known in a statement.
The police commissioner also directed that the Inspector be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba, for a thorough and speedy investigation.
Expressing heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, CP Ali said that for the Nigeria Police Force, being a disciplined organization, would not condone such a cruel action by any Officer.
He assured members of the public that the erring officer would be subjected to internal disciplinary measures, including criminal prosecution.
The police boss appealed to members of the public to remain calm and law abiding, with a reassurance that justice would not just be done but be seen to have been done.

The police commissioner promised a quick response to any complaint or anyone in distress.
