Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspects for alleged kidnapping, raping and recording their victims’s nudity, which they would threaten to post on the internet if a ransom is not paid by their families.
The three suspects were identified as Cornelius Ememah, Nelson Aghogho (a.k.a Little) and Ofuoma Tunde.
Disclosing this in a statement on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, said that they were apprehended after one of their victims sighted Ememah on January 2 and quickly went to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ofuoma Division and informed him of seeing one of the hoodlums that kidnapped her on December 22, 2022 and held her hostage in a hotel in Iwherekpokpor Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
She narrated how she was stripped naked while the suspects took her nude pictures and recorded her on video.
She said that during the video recording, they inserted a candle in her private part and used it to blackmail her and her parents to pay huge ransom.
“On receipt of this complaint, the DPO immediately detailed a combined team of police detectives and Ekiugbo community vigilante, arrested one Cornelius Emene ‘m’ aged age 32 years.
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect made useful statement that led to the arrest of two other suspects, Nelson Aghogho (aka Little), Ufuoma Tunde ‘f’, and also gave account of how they kidnapped another student of School of Health and Technology, Ofuoma, Ughelli North LGA.
“The modus operandi of the syndicate is to lure unsuspecting young girls on facebook, get them to a hotel, drug them, gang rape them, before holding them hostage and demanding ransom from their parents to secure their release,” the PPRO explained.
DSP Edafe said that when the suspects’s phones were checked, numerous sex video recording of their previous victims were found in them.
He added that the suspects were in police custody while investigation is still ongoing.
