Homicide detectives in State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Delta State Police command on Saturday, December 6, 2025, arrested a security guard, one Godwin Mngumi, who allegedly murdered Justice Ifeoma Okogwu (Rtd) in Anambra State.
Mngumi was working in late Justice Okogwu’s residence when he committed the murder.
Also arrested was one Nnaji Obalum, said to have also been involved in the crime.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, December 7, said that the phone of the late retired justice was recovered from the 25-year-old suspect.
In the suspect’s confession, he told the police that he invited his friend, Obalum, and one other suspect, currently at large, over to the house where they committed the crime together.
The PPRO stated that a manhunt is ongoing for the third suspect.
It will be recalled that Justice Okogwu’s lifeless body was discovered in her Asaba residence late on the night of Sunday, November 23.
Her killers had bound her legs, hands before ransacking the entire house, indicating a carefully-planned operation.
A pointer to the suspect’s involvement was his disappearance shortly after the incident, heightening suspicions.
