In a move to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the Eid-El-Fitr celebration coming up on Sunday, March 30, the Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out a comprehensive show of force on Saturday, March 29.
The operation, which took place in various strategic locations across the state, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, showcased the readiness and commitment of the police command, in conjunction with other security agencies, to maintain law and order during the festive period.
The show of force involved a visible presence of the police, military, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) aimed at deterring any potential threats, building confidence, and assuring the public of their safety.
3. The Commissioner of Police, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, in his comment, said that as people celebrate the end of Ramadan fast, it is imperative to provide a safe and secure atmosphere for all residents to do so with peace of mind.
The police commissioner stated further that the show of force underscores the dedication to ensuring public safety and fostering an environment where all individuals can enjoy the festivities in tranquility.
4. In addition to the visible increase in security presence, the Kano command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security outfit.
The Command emphasised the importance of community cooperation in maintaining peace and security, especially during festive occasions.
Furthermore, additional joint security personnel have been deployed to various prayer grounds, parks, and other public places to facilitate a smooth and secure celebration.
