As part of the proactive measures to forestall security breach in Ekiti State, as witnessed recently in some of the neighbouring states, and also ensure the safety of lives and property of all residents, the Ekiti State Police Command has organised a joint security operation.
The joint security comprises the police and all other security agencies to provide adequate security across the state, especially towns that share boundaries with surrounding states and Ado-Ekiti metropolis.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, October 7, said that operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Tactical Units, Intelligence Units, other security agencies agencies and local security outfits have been deployed to all the exit and entry points of the state.
In addition are all strategic locations and points across the state to monitor and quash the possible influx of criminal elements.
He noted that all the operatives deployed are from the state and not from outside.
He said that the operatives were not brought for any political reason as being speculated on the social media.
“The Command implores members of the public not to panic but go about their lawful businesses, as the heavy deployment of security operatives seen currently is not for intimidation but to ensure that the security of all law abiding citizens is guaranteed,” the PPRO stated.
Addressing the operatives deployed for this task, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, instructed them to be civil, firm and professional.
He appealed to all residents to be law-abiding and cooperate with the security personnel, as the Command will continue to prioritize the safety of lives and property of all the good people of the State.
