The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced a fake spiritualist, Solomon Odigie Moses, to one year in prison for defrauding and blackmailing an Indian woman who sought his services for spiritual healing.
Justice C.N. Nwabulu convicted Moses on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of cheating and impersonating a spiritual leader.
Moses, also known as “Dr Solomon”, was accused of obtaining $1,100 from an Indian woman, Sharon Kaur, after posing as a spiritualist on a fictitious TikTok account.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the convict, who was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, received the money through his Zelle payment platform before transferring the naira equivalent into his local bank account.
According to the anti-graft agency, Moses later deceived Kaur into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he allegedly recorded without her consent.
He subsequently threatened to release the video publicly unless she paid him money, leading the victim to part with another $1,100 to prevent the footage from being made public.
Following his guilty plea, EFCC counsel, Maryam Hayatudeen, urged the court to convict and sentence him in accordance with the law.
Justice Nwabulu consequently sentenced Moses to one year imprisonment with an option of N300,000 fine.
The court also ordered that the $1,100 proceeds of crime be forfeited and returned to the victim through the EFCC.
