Dr. Margaret Omisope, Deputy Bursar I of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been appointed the second substantive Bursar of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The appointment marks another milestone for FUNAAB in the development of professional expertise and administrative leadership within Nigeria’s university system.
In a statement, the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, described Omisope’s appointment as a recognition of her professional competence, dedication to service and extensive experience in university financial administration.
Olajide disclosed that the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, had congratulated Omisope, describing her appointment as a well-deserved recognition of her years of dedicated service, professional accomplishments and commitment to excellence.
According to the statement, Kehinde expressed confidence that her wealth of experience, academic qualifications and proven administrative capacity would contribute significantly to the financial management and institutional development of BOUESTI.
The Vice-Chancellor also wished her a successful tenure, urging her to uphold the values of integrity, accountability and professionalism in discharging her new responsibilities.
Omisope, a seasoned accounting professional and university administrator, has more than two decades of experience in financial management, institutional administration and university financial operations.
She began her career at FUNAAB in 1999 as an Accountant II in the Bursary Department and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Bursar I in 2024, a position she currently occupies.
During her years at the university, she worked across various divisions of the Bursary Department, gaining extensive knowledge of financial operations and administrative processes. She also served as Acting Managing Director of the UNAAB Microfinance Bank.
Academically, Omisope obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University (EKSU), in 1998, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now EKSU, in 2003.
She subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, in 2022, before completing her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting at the same institution in 2026.
Omisope is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
She also obtained a certification from the Bureau of Public Procurement in 2013.
Olajide said Omisope’s appointment was expected to bring her extensive professional experience, strong academic background and institutional knowledge to bear on the financial administration and strategic development of BOUESTI.
He added that her emergence further reinforced FUNAAB’s reputation for producing professionals and administrators who continue to distinguish themselves in leadership positions across Nigeria’s higher education sector.
