The new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, on Friday, August 12, 2022, assumed duty at the headquarters, Odogbo Cantonment, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He is in charge of Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo and Kwara states.
The assumption of duty was made known by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Charles Ekeocha, in a statement.
His assumption of duty followed the recent redeployment of senior officers in the Nigerian Army.

The seasoned senior army officer has attended all mandatory courses and served in various Nigerian Army formations and units.
He has also held various appointments, including command, staff and instructional.

General Chinade is a military helicopter pilot and an alumnus of the prestigious Nigerian Defence College, Abuja.
Prior to his appointment as the 42nd GOC, General Chinade was the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria.
The outgoing GOC, Major General Gold Chibuisi, during the handing over ceremony, decorated the new GOC with the 2 Division insignia.
General Chibuisi also handed over notes and the Division’s flag to him.
