‎How ex-security guard organized killing of veteran broadcaster in Ogun ‎

‎The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the killing of veteran broadcaster and former Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff member, Olakitan “Kitan” Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

‎Police investigations revealed that the alleged mastermind, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, a former security guard employed by the deceased, reportedly coordinated the attack over grievances he harboured against Oyesiku during his time in her service.
‎
‎Speaking during a press briefing at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni said the suspect confessed that the attack was intended to “teach her a lesson.”
‎
‎According to the police, the breakthrough in the investigation came after detectives recovered Oyesiku’s missing Lexus RX 330 vehicle and discovered a handwritten note inside it.
‎
‎Forensic analysis of the note reportedly led investigators to Philip, who was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
‎
‎Further operations led to the arrest of two alleged accomplices, identified as Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36.
‎
‎Police said Philip admitted recruiting the two men to participate in the crime. Investigators alleged that the suspects carried out the attack on June 20 by first overpowering Adetayo, the security guard, and using him to gain access to the residence.
‎
‎Upon entering the house, the suspects allegedly attacked Oyesiku before later killing the security guard. They subsequently fled with the broadcaster’s vehicle, which was later recovered through intelligence-led tracking operations.
‎
‎The double murder came to light after residents reported suspicious activities at Oyesiku’s residence. Detectives who responded to the scene found signs of forced entry. Adetayo’s body was discovered in the security post, while Oyesiku was found dead inside the main building.
‎
‎Ojajuni said exhibits recovered during the investigation included a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank and a black pen believed to be connected to the crime.
‎The police commissioner stressed that although the suspects had made confessional statements and evidence had been recovered, they remained entitled to due process under the law.
‎
‎He added that investigations were continuing to strengthen the case and ensure the diligent prosecution of everyone linked to the killings.
‎The command assured the public that it remained committed to securing justice for the deceased and bringing all those involved to book.
