Commissioner of Police in Osun State Command, Olawale Olokode has spoken on how a 35-year-old man, Fasesan Ayoade Moses, was tricked into a relationship aimed at making money, but was instead killed for money ritual by a conniving group of suspected murderers.
The suspects were identified as Faseun Afolabi (40), Fadare Afolabi (38), Adeleke Kabiru (37), Oloyede Maruf(39), Oseni Mukaila (24) and
Badmus Sairu (27), while one of them, simply known as Taiwo, is currently at large.
Disclosing this during a parade of the suspects on Saturday, August 7, 2021, Olokode said that the police began their investigations after the mother of the victim reported to the police on May 24 that her son left the house, telling her that he was going to a studio, but had yet to return since then.
The police boss said that the report made police detectives from Anti-Kidnapping Unit to conduct intelligence-led investigation which yielded fruits through the arrest of Faseun Afolabi.
According to Olokode, “the suspect, who initially denied to have knowledge of the whereabouts of the victim but confirmed that he knew him, finally confessed to have conspired with two of his cohorts Fadare Afolabi and Taiwo (surname yet unknown) to kill the victim.
“They also confessed to have butchered the victim and sold his heart to Adeleke Kabiru at the cost N15,000, while the head, leg and hands were sold to Adeleke Kabiru, Oloyede Maruf, Oseni Mukaila and Badmus Sairu.
“In view of this fact, the investigation team took immediate action and succeeded in arresting all the suspects mentioned except the said Taiwo, now at large.”
Olokode stated further that the principal suspect led the detectives to Fidibomi Area of Ikirun where the victim was killed, butchered and the remaining parts buried.
The remains of deceased was said to have been exhumed and taken to UNIOSUN morgue for autopsy, where the mother of the victim identified the last cloth worn by her son.
He added that efforts were ongoing to nab the fleeing suspect, while the arrested ones would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
“I shall continue to reiterate the fact that the police here in Osun is working hard to ensure that the state is not a safe haven for criminals and unscrupulous elements,” Olokode said.
In an interview with journalists, Faseun Afolabi, who said he was a native doctor, claimed that the deceased had approached him for money-making ritual. The tide, however, turned against him as he was made a victim.
