The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11 Command Mukan Joseph Gobum, together with police and civilian Christians, handed over the Command under his watch to God, praying for peace, orogress and divine security in Nigeria.
Gobum made the submission at the gathering of Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria which took place in All Saints Protestant Chapel, Zone 11 Command Headquarters, Osogbo on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Addressing the gathering by quoting Psalms 127:1, the AIG read: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that builds it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchmen waketh [but] in vain.”
According to him, in a statement by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Ayeni, “we don’t want to wake in vain, so we pray to God to come and crown our efforts, so that Zone 11 will continue to be the most peaceful zone in the whole country.”
He admonished officers and men present to shun evil and embrace righteousness which would make the nation to progress, noting that everyone would give account of their stewardship in the world and hereafter.
Delivering a sermon at the prayer meeting, using Romans 8:19 as reference, the Superintendent Pastor of The Apostolic Church, Osogbo Area, I. G. Awotanmi, enjoined officers to pray for grace to stand out among their mates, as the whole world is “earnestly waiting for the manifestations of the sons of God.”
The Police Chaplain, Venerable Elijah Olawuyi offered prayers for the peace of the nation and also proclaimed blessings on the governments and the people of Oyo and Osun states.
