An attempted attack on Dangote Refinery at Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos State was foiled by the police command’s operatives in the early hours of Monday, March 28, 2022.
This made the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, to direct that security at the refinery be fortified.
Disclosing this on Tuesday, March 29, the police spokesman in the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said that armed hoodlums numbering about 22 had gained entry into the refinery through the lagoon side, but were repelled while attempting to cart away already-installed armoured cables in the refinery.
“The hoodlums, on sighting security operatives, fled the scene. One of the hoodlums was hit in the ensuing gunfire and died on the way to the hospital.
“Investigation has commenced with a view to arresting the fleeing attackers,” the PPRO stated.
