The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, has deployed more police tactical squads, Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel and other conventional police teams to streets in Mushin and adjoining areas.
The deployment followed concerns in relation to recent incidents of daylight assault, harassment and stealing from shops and innocent passersby in the areas.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the move is to checkmate the activities of the miscreants, arrest and bring them to justice.
Thenewsbearer gathered that members of Mushin community had informed the police of how teenage miscreants and hoodlums, ranging from age 14 to 16 years in age, had been harassing assaulting and stealing from the residents and passersby.
The PPRO said: “These reports have informed a thorough review of our operational tactics and strategies,” adding that normalcy had been completely restored to Mushin and all other parts of Lagos State.
He encouraged the state residents to go about their lawful businesses and other activities without fear or apprehension
In addition, the Area Commander covering Mushin was directed by the Commissioner of Police to meet with the two local government chairmen covering the entire area to map out strategies to further strengthen the deployment.
He said that this would ensure optimum security and protection of the residents and traders in the general areas.
Raids of criminal hideouts and identified black spots were said to have been carried out on Monday , June 2, in Ishaga, Awolowo and Ojuwoye markets where 23 of the suspected miscreants were arrested.
The PPRO said that the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
He added that the raids of the criminal hideouts, identified black spots and slums where the criminal gangs hide would be a continuous operation until the area is completely rid of them.
