Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family of the 18-year-old girl, Monsurat Ojuade, who was felled by a stray bullet at Ijeshatedo, fired by a police sergeant during a raid in the early hours of Saturday, September 11, 2021.
Odumosu made the expression, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman Alkali, as well as officers and men of the command, during a visit to the family on Monday, September 13.
The command’s police spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement, said that the police boss was accompanied by top members of the Lagos State Police Command’s management team and other senior police officers.
The Commissioner of Police, who made his regret known on the incident, prayed for the repose of the teenager’s soul, and beseeched God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Presenting a letter of condolence to the family, the Commissioner of Police also reassured them that justice would be served, disclosing that the culprit, Sgt. Samuel Phillips had been arrested, and was currently undergoing orderly room trial.
