The Lagos State Taskforce has continued its rigorous enforcement against the illegal operation of commercial motorcycles (okada) riders in restricted areas of the state, as it recently impounded 128 bikes.
The operations were carried out in Berger, Sabo area of Ikorodu, Ikotun and other areas of the state, according to a statement by the Taskforce Director, Press & Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reiterated the agency’s unwavering stance on the illegal operations, stressing that both riders and passengers found violating the ban will be prosecuted.
“Passengers on okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders,” he warned.
The chairman said that the Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable.
“Residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts are in place to protect the lives and property of all Lagosians.
“All the 128 impounded motorcycles from all the locations will be forfeited to the state government through the court,” he stated.
