Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has presented a brand-new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) to the Chairman of Fresh FM Nigeria and popular musician, Dr Yinka Ayefele, as a gift.
The key of the new vehicle was presented to Ayefele by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Ademola Ojo, on behalf of Governor Makinde, at the Ayefele Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, on Tuesday, August 19.
Sympathising with Ayefele on the recent fire outbreak that affected the organisation, the Commissioner said that the governor appreciated Ayefele’s exceptional contributions to the media landscape in the state.
He said: “Governor Makinde, in his usual practice, to appreciate the good work you have been doing for the public in Oyo State, has asked me to present this vehicle to you.
“More so, at this point in time, to sympathise with you on what has just happened at Fresh FM. The governor feels this is the right time to say ‘thank you.’ So, he asked us to present this gift to you.”
Reacting to Governor Makinde’s surprise gift, Ayefele said it was unexpected, expressing his gratitude to the governor for the gesture.
He equally lauded the governor on his promise to ensure that the station does not stay off-air, just as he appreciated media houses, residents of Oyo State and all Nigerians for their support and prayers in his trying period.
Ayefele said: “I want to thank the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for this wonderful gift, which I never thought of. I have never dreamt of it, but it came to pass.
“When we experienced the fire incident, he came to the scene and assured me that I should not feel sad, because I would rejoice this week.
“I am grateful this morning that the governor has fulfilled his promise to ensure that Fresh FM continues to operate. This is very great and marvellous in my sight.”
Present at the event were the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun; Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Mrs Bosede Sodiq and top management of Fresh FM Nigeria.
