A 30-year-old man, Arthur Praise, has been arrested by Ogun State Police Command for committing sexual act with a 14-year-old girl after abducting her and keeping her without the knowledge and approval of her guardians.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, said that the suspect was picked by the Divisional Police Officer of Mowe Division after the girl’s grandparents reported on Wednesday, May 1, at about 2pm, that she had not been seen since April 27.
The grandparents also told the DPO that they suspected the suspect of unlawful carnal knowledge of their teenage granddaughter, as evidenced in her bleeding profusely from her private part when she was eventually seen.
The PPRO stated: “Medical forms have been issued for examination and treatment in a government hospital for more credible evidences.
“Preliminary investigation has commenced at the Mowe Divisional Headquarters, but the case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.”
Saying that no child in the Gateway State should be subjected to such inhumane treatment, sexual assault or abuse, SP Odutola stressed that the police command frowns at such acts and is partnering with Ministry of Women Affairs, led by the Commissioner, for rehabilitation of victims.
