A 32-year-old man, Gbenga Kolawole, has been arrested by Sango Division of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly taking advantage of a 16-year-old girl (name withheld) by raping her after she got drunk when celebrating church’s anniversary at Adubi Ewekoro area.
The suspect was however caught in the act by a neighbour.
The arrest, which was carried out on Monday, November 6, 2023, was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Friday, November 10.
According to the PPRO, the victim’s mother told the police that the suspect took her daughter to a nearby bar shop, locked her in with himself and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“The victim has been taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and treatment, while the suspect has been arrested for preliminary investigation,” the PPRO said.
In another development, the Divisional Police Officer in Sango recovered a Blue colour Toyota RAV4 SUV belonging to one Elogie Polycarp.
The vehicle owner had reported that his car was stolen from where parked in Gbagada by unknown thieves.
According to SP Odutola, “intelligence-based policing led the DPO to arresting one Alao James, aged 55, in his hideout in Ilo Ota in connection with the crime.”
She added that all exhibits would be handed over to Gbagada Police Station which is in the jurisdiction where the crime was committed.
