The Federal Ministry of Education has clarified reports circulating online that a 15-year-old Nigerian student who allegedly qualified to represent the country at the International Mathematics Olympiad in China was denied sponsorship.
The Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said in a statement on Sunday, October 19, that the Ministry did not receive any official request for sponsorship or support from any recognised institution, association, or individual in connection with the said competition.
She urged the public to disregard unverified reports and ensure that all education-related matters are confirmed through the Ministry’s official communication channels.
