The kidnappers of the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, have got more than they bargained for, as operatives of the Lagos State CP Special Squad apprehended two more of the suspects on Friday, January 24.

The two suspects were identified as Agbojule Smart, aged 27; and Keleke Michael, 30 years old.

The fresh arrest came barely 24 hours after the rescue of Mrs Odumosu in a gun duel with the and neutralisation of some of the suspects.

Thenewsbearer reports that the arrest was in response to the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to police operatives to go after the fleeing suspects in connection to the kidnap of Mrs Odumosu.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Friday, January 24, that the suspects were arrested in the early hours of the day while on their way out of Lagos State.

“Upon interrogation, they confessed to their crime of belonging to a gang of four, two of who had been neutralized previously.

“Recovered from the suspects upon their arrest were the sum of Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N2,250,000), which was part of the requested ransom, two locally-fabricated rifles and 11 live cartridges,” the FPRO stated.

He spoke on the commendation of the IGP to the police operatives for their gallantry in apprehending these suspects, encouraging them to maintain this high standard of competence in the fight against crime in all its manifestations.

ACP Adejobi added: “The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to public safety and the security of the good citizens of Nigeria.

“The Force remains steadfast in its commitment to reducing crime to an absolute minimum and fostering the establishment of peace across the nation.”
