Newly-installed Baale of Eleruko Village, Chief Olawatosin Olusegun Oladimeji (Segelu), has pledged the promotion and preservation of Ibadan cultural values as his priority.
Oladimeji made the pledge at his installation by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I, on Monday, October 14, at Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Eleruko Village is located in Lagelu Local Government Area, Thenewsbearer reports.
The event was attended by other members of Olubadan-in-Council, family members and other indigenes of the village.
In his speech, Baale Oladimeji described his installation as a call for more service.
The traditional title holder said that his priority is to attract developmental projects to the village, Lagelu Local Government Area and Oyo State in general.
He seized the opportunity to thank the people of Eleruko Village for counting him worthy to be installed as the new Baale, promising to abstain from any action that could tarnish the image of the rural area.
“Eleruko is our heritage. It is our own. I wish to thank all sons and daughters of the village for their contributions to have me installed as their Baale.
“I also appreciate the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Olubadan-in-council for my installation as the Baale of Eleruko.
“My intention is to promote Eleruko village and attract developmental projects to Eleruko village, Lagelu local government and Oyo state as a whole,” he remarked.
Speaking further, Oladimeji expressed gratitude to those who graced the occasion from all walks of life, within and outside Nigeria, including members of Taiwo Ariyibi dynasty of Eleruko village, traditional rulers in the local government, religious leaders, business tycoons and other well-wishers.
