Two suspects, alleged to have gang-raped a 19-year-old lady (names withheld) have been arrested policemen from Ogun State Command.
The suspects, whose names were given as Damilare Oyeniyi (30) and Emmanuel Okori (20), had gang-raped their victim on Saturday, December 12, before they were arrested on Wednesday, December 16.
Disclosing this in a press statement, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the suspects were arrested after the victim reported at Sango police station that the rapists, living in the same compound with her, dragged her into the room of one of them, stripped her naked, recorded her nudity, before taking turns to rape her.
Oyeyemi stated that the report made the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sango Division, CSP Godwin Idehai, to direct detectives to go after the suspects.
“The effort of the detectives paid off on the December 16, when the suspects were eventually arrested.
“On interogation, the two confessed to committing the crime. They admitted that they recorded her naked on video, and threatened to post it on social media if she reported them to anyone,” the PPRO said.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of suspects to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further investigation and prosecution.
