The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has described elder statesman and renowned politician, Dr. Saka Balogun, as a beacon of integrity, patriotism, and selfless leadership as he marked his 90th birthday, praising his enduring contributions to community development, academia, and public service.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 22, Oba Alao said Dr. Balogun’s 90th birthday offers an opportunity to celebrate a lifetime devoted to principled leadership, scholarship, and service to humanity.
He noted that the celebrant has remained a source of wise counsel and inspiration to many within and beyond Oyo State.
The traditional ruler commended Dr. Balogun for his distinguished record in public service, describing his emergence as the Balogun of Ogbomosoland and Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council as a reflection of the respect he commands among his people and across the state.
Oba Alao further said the nonagenarian’s unwavering commitment to justice, honesty and community development has earned him a lasting place in the annals of Oyo State’s political and social history, adding that his life exemplifies dedication to nation-building.
He urged younger Nigerians, particularly those aspiring to leadership positions, to emulate Dr. Balogun’s virtues of humility, patriotism, discipline and unwavering commitment to the common good.
The monarch prayed that God would continue to bless the elder statesman with sound health, strength and peace of mind, wishing him many more years of fruitful service.
