The Oyo State Government has announced plans to introduce the Environmental Compliance Awards to recognise industries and business establishments that consistently comply with environmental, health and sustainability standards across the state.
Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, disclosed this during an unscheduled inspection of Item7Go Production Factory in Eleyele, Ibadan, where he praised the company for maintaining a clean, safe and environmentally-responsible workplace.
Aderinto described the factory as a model of responsible industrial practice, saying its commitment to quality control, environmental protection and operational excellence aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Oyo State.
He said the Ministry would continue to strengthen environmental monitoring and enforce compliance with environmental regulations to ensure industries operate in ways that protect public health and the environment.
According to the Commissioner, the proposed awards will encourage healthy competition among industries, promote adherence to environmental laws and strengthen the culture of sustainability, a key component of the state’s environmental agenda.
He added that the government would continue to support businesses that embrace environmentally friendly and sustainable production practices.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, Water Resources and Ecology, Hon. Olorunpoto Rahaman, commended the Ministry for its achievements in environmental sanitation and enforcement of environmental laws.
He described compliance with environmental standards as the most cost-effective approach for businesses and urged industries across the state to emulate the operational and environmental standards demonstrated by Item7Go Production Factory.
Responding on behalf of the company, Mr. Daniel Muda, a top management staff of Item7Go, appreciated the state government for the inspection visit and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
He pledged that the company would continue to comply with all environmental regulations while partnering with the Ministry to promote a greener, cleaner and healthier Oyo State.
