In further response disturbing reports on alleged sexual assault at Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro Community, and in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Adesola Aina, the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) has arrested 11 additional suspects.
They include Samson Atukpodo, Steven ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, and Evidence Oguname, among others.
The Command’s image maker, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest on Saturday, March 21, gave the total number of suspects currently in police custody in connection with the incident as 15.
It will be noted that four suspects were arrested on Friday, March 20 in connection with the rape scandal whereby some youths, in the guise of celebrating a festival, sexually molested some young ladies as seen in a viral video.
According to Edafe, the Command’s preliminary findings indicated that the unfortunate incident was perpetrated by criminal elements who exploited the situation to engage in acts of sexual violence, which is in no way representative of any legitimate cultural practice.
“The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, condemns these acts in totality and reassures the public that the Command remains resolute in its determination to ensure that all those involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“Members of the public, particularly victims and witnesses, are once again encouraged to come forward with credible information that will aid ongoing investigations.
“The Command assures that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality,” the PPRO stated.
