The Katsina State police command has arrested 12 suspected bandits/cattle rustlers and recovered 186 cows and 54 sheep.

According to a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Gambo Isah, “on Friday, November 13, at about 8:00 a.m., based on credible intelligence, the Area Commander, Dutsinma led combined teams of policemen and vigilantes to Tsaunin Bala village, Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, based on the report that bandits numbering about 10, armed with AK-47 rifles, have escorted some suspected rustled domestic animals to the village and returned to the forest.

“Consequently, the team succeeded in arresting 11 suspected bandits, led by one Alhaji Adamu, popularly known as “Shantal”, a notorious, wanted gang leader of bandits, and recovered 185 cows and 54 sheep.”

The police spokesperson further disclosed that in another operation on the same day, three suspected bandits were also arrested, and 43 cows and 213 sheep recovered in Batsari Local Government Area.

He said the Divisional Police Officer of Batsari led personnel of Operation Puff Adder, Sharan Daji and vigilance group members on a patrol along Dankar-Dangayya village in the council area, when they intercepted the bandits and the rustled livestock.
