Operatives of Dragon Patrol in Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected kidnappers, with a startling confession from them that they used a wooden gun to perpetrate the criminal act and successfully collected N4million as ransom before they were caught.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, said that it followed the interception of a commercial vehicle by police personnel when they were conducting a stop-and-search operation, with a sum of N3 million recovered in it.
When interrogated on the source of the money, the suspects reportedly confessed that it was part of the ransom collected from the female victim they kidnapped in Agbarho Community.
The PPRO said that during an identification parade, the victim was able to pick the four arrested suspects as some of her abductors.
The suspects, who gave the states of origin as Yobe, Taraba and Kano, told the police: “Yes, we collected the N4 million after kidnapping our victim. We used a wooden gun called ‘Ichie.’ We were arrested at a checkpoint.”
Narrating her experience, the female victim said: “The kidnappers came to my residence and took me away. They gave me an injury with a stick that looked like the ones used to beat cows. They were of Fulani extract, and one of them told me he used to be a member of the Boko Haram.
“They held me hostage for three nights. They collected N4 million before I was set free.”
